7 Software and Firmware update process (Non-ISSU and
ISSU)
Firmware Update Process – Non ISSU
To update the firmware using non-ISSU procedure:
1.
Ensure that the latest firmware is obtained via hp.com
2.
Use the ftp client on the switch to download
a.
<HP> ftp <IP address> then login to the server.
b.
<HP> bin
c.
<HP> get <firmware filename.ipe>
d.
<HP> boot-loader file flash:/<firmware file name> slot 1 main
The following message appears:
This command will set the main startup software images. Continue?
[Y/N]:.
Enter: Y and proceed.

<HP> save
NOTE:
is not lost unless the user wants to revert back to the saved configuration in the .cfg file.
The following message appears:
The current configuration will be written to the device. Are you
sure? [Y/N]:
Enter: Y and proceed.
Please input the the filename (*/cfg) [flash:/config87.cfg]
(To leave the existing filename unchanged, press the enter key):
flash:/config87.cfg exists, overwrite?[Y/N]:
Enter: Y and proceed.
Validating file. Please wait...
Saved the current configuration to mainboard device successfully.
