Starting and Stopping

Note
Always close the tray when starting and stopping the
library. The library cannot be started or stopped while the
tray is in the open position.

Starting

Check that the power supply cord is connected, then
turn on the main power switch on the rear panel of the
library.

Press the On/Standby switch on the front panel.
When the button is pressed, the On/Standby button
indicator is lit green.
Initialization ends and the library is ready for use when
the text on the library display stops flashing.

Stopping

Press the On/Standby switch for two seconds or
longer.

A shutdown confirmation message appears on the
display. Use the arrow buttons to select [Y], then press
the [ENTER] button.

Wait until the On/Standby button indicator changes
from flashing green to lit in red, then turn off the main
power switch on the rear panel.

Handling Discs

Discs used for recording and playback

This unit can record and play back the following
1)
Professional Disc
formats.
• PFD23A (capacity 23.3 GB)
• PFD50DLA (capacity 50.0 GB)
• PFD100TLA (capacity 100 GB)
• PFD128QLW (capacity 128 GB)
1) Professional Disc is a trademark of Sony Corporation.
Notes
• It is not possible to use the following discs for recording
or playback:
- Blu-ray Disc
- Professional Disc for Data
• Discs containing XAVC files can be formatted only.
• Operations other than formatting may not be available,
depending on the version of metafiles stored on
Professional Discs.
• PFD128QLW is a quad-layer Write-Once Professional
Disc (hereafter referred to as "quad-layer WO disc").
Pay due attention to the following points.
- Even if you delete any files written to the disc, no
available storage space will be increased.
- Reformatting the disc will not increase the available
storage space.
- Repetitive file writing will consume the recordable
resource space (for writing the disc management data,
etc.) on the disc. If no available recordable resource
space is left on the disc, file writing may be disabled
even with sufficient available storage space remaining.
- No file can be written after the disc is finalized.
• PFD100TLA and PFD128QLW discs can be used only
by XDCAM devices with the XL-QD mark (see the
following illustration). They cannot be used by XDCAM
devices without this mark.

Notes on handling

Handling
The Professional Disc is housed in a cartridge, and is designed
to allow handling free of risk from dust or fingerprints.
However, if the cartridge is subjected to a severe shock, for
example by dropping it, this can result in damage or scratching
of the disc. If the disc is scratched, it may be impossible to
