    You can increase the range of the base unit by using a DECT repeater. Consult your Panasonic dealer for details. Before registering the repeater to this base unit, you must change the base unit PIN to a number between 9000 and 9999 (page 32), then disconnect the base unit AC adaptor and connect it again.

    The unit will not work during a power failure. We therefore recommend you also connect a standard telephone to the same telephone line using a T-adaptor. Your Panasonic sales shop can offer you more information about connection possibilities. Battery installation Insert the battery as shown. Insert the end of the battery first.

    Making calls Lift the handset and dial the phone number. To correct a digit, press C , then enter the correct number. Press When finished talking, press place the handset on the charger. Speakerphone The handset features a digital speakerphone, which allows you to have hands-free conversations.

    Recording a telephone conversation (KX-TCD580 only) You can record your conversation while on an outside call. Important: Before recording a conversation, you should inform the other party that the conversation will be recorded. Press * (centre of joystick) during a conversation.

    Telephone Handset phonebook The handset phonebook allows you to make calls without having to dial manually. You can add 200 names and phone numbers to the handset phonebook and search for phonebook entries by name, category, or by performing a voice search.   • Page 17 Searching by first character (index search) This method is useful when you are searching for an entry which does not start with a letter in the alphabet. Press .
