AUTOMA TIC CAM CHAIN TENSIONER
GENERAL
TECHNICAL FEATURES
The tensioner
consists
of an arm,
slipper,
spring, lock plate, lock.
rod
and
cam chain guide.
The
self-locking
rod
is
connected
on
one end
to the
slipper and on the other
end to
the
lock plate as
shown.
The
spring maintains constant pressure to hold the slipper against the cam chain at
all
times.
The
lock plate prevents backward
movement of the lock rod and tensioner
slipper.

OPERATION
As the cam chain
wears,
the spring
pulls
the slipper
to compensate by forcing the
lock
rod
out.
The
lock plate prevents the rod from
being
pushed tn
by the cam chain during
operation.
