  • Page 3 · Never transport the chipper with the PTO engaged and the flywheel turning. · The chipper must be operated with the weight of the machine on the ground. Operating the machine while it is off the ground can result in injury to yourself or others, or can damage to the machine, which is not covered under warranty.

    · If it becomes necessary to push material into the chipper hopper, use a small diameter stick, not your hands. · Keep bystanders back 100 feet from the work area at all times. Wood chips exit the chipper at great speeds. To be safe, do not operate the machine near small children or pets, and never allow children to operate the chipper.

    Warranty. STARTING THE CHIPPER · The chipper is a flywheel-and-knife type of chipper, not a shredder. The blades actually chip the limbs as they are fed into the head. The blades must be sharp to operate properly. Dirt, rocks, nails, or other foreign material will shorten blade life.

    · Do not operate the unit without the guards in place. Before stopping the chipper, be sure the all of the material is out of the head and out of the feed roll. · All of the material in the chute must be gone or the unit could jam on a small piece of material.

    · Obey local, state, and federal regulations when transporting the machine on public roads and highways. · Factor in the added length of the chipper in driving situations, e.g., when turning, parking, and crossing intersections. · Adjust your speed for terrain and conditions.

  • Page 9 MACHINE MAINTENANCE CAUTION: Before performing any maintenance procedure or inspection on the chipper, disengage the PTO, shut down the Tractor engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to come to a complete stop. Then disconnect the PTO shaft from the Tractor. Wait an additional 5 minutes.

    PTO turns but the flywheel doesn't rotate. POSSIBLE CAUSE/FIX ·The Flywheel may be jammed. Immediately disengage the PTO and stop the Tractor engine. Remove any built-up debris from the Chipper Hopper Inlet and Discharge Chute. ·Check the Drive Pulley alignment and adjust if necessary.
