Collar [A] and Needle Bearing [B]
Install the starter motor clutch gear [C] while turning [D]
Install the alternator rotor (see Alternator Rotor Installa-
tion in the Electrical System chapter).
Hold the alternator rotor steady with the rotor holder [A]
The rotor holder is prevented from turning by using the
suitable M10 bolt [B] and footpeg bracket bolt hole.
Special Tools - Grip [C]: 57001-1591
Rotor Holder: 57001-1674
Torque - Starter Motor Clutch Gear Bolt: 69 N·m (7.0 kgf·m,
Starter Motor Clutch Inspection
Drain the engine oil (see Engine Oil Change in the Peri-
odic Maintenance chapter).
Remove the starter motor (see Starter Motor Removal in
the Electrical System chapter).
Turn the torque limiter gear [A] by hand. When viewed
from the left side of the engine, the gear should turn clock-
wise freely [B], but should not turn counterclockwise.
If the gear does not operate as it should or if it makes
noise, go to the next step.
Disassemble the starter motor clutch (see Right Balancer
and Starter Motor Clutch Removal).

If there is any worn or damaged part, replace it.
