Unless you know how to recognize the constellation Orion, for instance, you won’t have much luck locating the Orion Nebula. A simple planisphere, or star wheel, can be a valuable tool for learning the constellations and seeing which ones are vis- ible in the sky on a given night.
It is desirable to have a range of eyepieces of different focal lengths, to allow viewing over a range of magnifications. To calculate the magnification, or power, of a telescope, simply divide the focal length of the telescope by the focal length of the eyepiece: Telescope F.L. ÷ Eyepiece F.L.=Magnification...
The carrying case will hold the ShortTube 80-T safely during transport and doubles as a convenient storage spot when the telescope is not in use. You will need to remove acces- sories such as the eyepiece, diagonal, and finder scope in order to place the telescope into the case.
