I have just set up my old phone (Oricom M5500) after years in storage, everything else is working except the out-going message, neither the pre-recorded nor my successfully recorded message will play to callers, it also doesn't say 'answering on, announcement one/two'. It records and plays messages okay. Can this be fixed or is it time to buy a new phone? Thank you.

Yes, the outgoing message (OGM) issue on the Oricom M5500 Series phone can be fixed. You can switch between two OGM modes: OGM1 allows callers to leave a message after hearing “Please leave a message after the beep,” while OGM2 plays “Please call later” and does not record messages. You can also record a personalized message (3 to 120 seconds). To fix the issue, ensure the correct OGM mode is selected and re-record the message if needed.
