2 . Use the NEXT[] key and select the [Continuous] mode . Press RUN and the analyzer wilI perform series
of trace measurements . At the completion of each measurement, the analyzer updates the display and
starts anew trace measurement . The traces measurements continue until the STOP key is pressed. The
time tagging list is not displayed during continuous traces, but is displayed when STOP is pressed and a
single trace is taken .
NOTE
When
STOP is pressed once, the analyzer completes and displays
the
measurement presently in progress . If STOP is pressed twice, the trace
measurement is aborted and any states captured are displayed in the listing.
3. Press TRACE again and return to the [Single] trace mode by using the PREV[] key.
NOTE
Steps 4 and 5 apply only to the 1630G, the 1630A/D does not have the time tagging
function .
4 . Move the cursor to the Count field in the State Trace Specification menu . There are two choices
available in the Count field for time tagging purposes . The default of the count function counts the time
between each state in the state listing . This is displayed in the Time column of the state listing and may
be seen in any of the previous figures of state listings of the 1630G . The 1630G can count states rather
than time when the Count field specification is changed to [all states] . Figure 4-18 is a state listing when
states are counted rather than execution time . States between and including each state in the state
listing are counted .
The time tagging function has many useful applications such as : measuring time between calls to a
routine, looking at the time between writing to an I/O port, or capturing the time a routine takes to
execute.
5 . Move the cursor to the States field in the State Listing of the 1630G . Use the NEXT[] or PREV[] key to
see how the analyzer can display the States (orTime) list in absoluteor relative values . Figure4-19 isthe
State Listing with the State list in absolute values . In the [relative] mode, counting is relative to the
previous state. In the absolute mode, counting is relative to the trigger.
