behindmufflerfreeof anycombustible d ebris.
Keeping engine cleanallowsair movement a round engine.
Engine partsshouldbekeptcleanto reduce the riskof overheating a nd
ignitionof accumulated debris.
Donot usewater to cleanengine parts. Watercouldcontaminate fuel
system.Usea brushor drycloth.

DeckWash
Yourmower's deckisequipped with a waterport on its surface aspartof its deck
washsystem.
Use the deckwashto rinsegrassclippings from thedeck'sunderside andprevent
the buildupof corrosive chemicals. Complete the followingstepsAFTER E ACH
MOWING:
Push the mowerto alevel,clearspotonyourlawn,nearenough for your
gardenhose to reach. R emove t he grassbagif attached.

Makecertain the mower'sdischarge chute isdirectedAWAY from your
house, g arage,parkedcars,etc.

Thread the hosecoupler(packaged w ith yourmower'sOperator's M anual)
ontothe endof yourgardenhose.

Attachthe hosecoupler t o the waterport onyourdeck's surface. S eeFigure

Turnthe wateron.
Startthe engineasdescribed inthe Operation section.
Run the enginefor aminimumoftwo minutes, a llowingthe underside of the
cuttingdeckto thoroughlyrinse.
Release b ladecontrol t o stopthe engineandblade.
Turnthe wateroffanddetachthe hosecouplerfromthe waterport onyour
deck's surface.
Aftercleaning yourdeck,restartthe mower.Keep theengineandbladerunning
fora minimumof two minutes,allowingthe underside ofthe cuttingdeckto
thoroughlydry.
