  • Page 2 Any object radiates infrared energy if its temperature is above absolute zero. This energy travels at the speed of light in all directions. An infrared thermometer lens collects and focuses the infrared energy into a sensor. The sensor produces a small voltage output, indexed to the target temperature, which is processed and displayed.

    Field of View The farther the thermometer is from the target the larger the target area will be. This relationship between distance and target size is normally expressed as the distance to spot, or D:S ratio. At a distance of 6 feet, the “target” spot would be 1 foot in diameter.
  • Page 4 OMEGA ENGINEERING, INC. warrants this unit to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 13 months from date of purchase. OMEGA’s WARRANTY adds an additional one (1) month grace period to the normal one (1) year product warranty to cover handling and shipping time.
