TROUBLES AND REMEDIES
Some
of
the
troubles
which moy
occur and the relevant cousese o
re
listed
hereunder.
Difficult ignition
or ignition
failure.
First
of
all check the gasoline level and whether
the
g asoline cock is
open
lploced
on
the R/H side
of fuel
tonk).
If everything
is
normal,
the
following
causes
may hove
occurred:
CAUSE
Gasoline pipes are clogged.
The fuel
filter
is
dirty.
Gasoline cock
filter
is
dirty.
Electric pump doesn't work.
The
carburetor
float is jammed.
The float
has
an hole.
The
jet
is
obstructed.
Spark plugs
ore dirty
or
defective.
There
is
no compression.
Lack
of spark
at
spark
plugs.

REMEDY
Clean
them
wi
th
on
air
jet
eliminating
any
extraneous body.
Replace the
filtering element
of the
50
me.
Oi50~semble
the
filter
and clean it
by
on
air
jet on the wire
gauze.
Verify
all
electric
connections,
and in
case
replace.
Remove the
float and clean
the
cham·
ber.
Replace.
Apply
a strong air jet
into
it in order to
free the
passage.
Replace or
clean
the spark plugs
making
~ure
that the
insula
ting
p iece
core is intact,
that
there is
no carbon
deposits
on
the
electrodes,
and tha
t
the gop
between
the
electrodes is
0
.023 in
.
Check whether
the
spark plugs ore
tight, that the
valves ore
well dosed,
and the perfect seal of the piston
rings.
Check
that the
key switch
is not
defec·
live;
il
so,
replace.
C heck tha
t
the wires
of
the
ignition
circuit
ore
w
ell
connected and
no
t
interrup ted; replace,
the
defective
w
ire,
if
necessry.
CAUSE
Lock
of spark at a single
s
park
plug.
Lights do not work properly.
CAUSE
Battery
is down
or often
runs
down.
REMEDY
R
epla ce or dean th
e
spark
plug
a nd
check that the gop between elec·
trades is 0 .023
in.
Check that the
wrre
from the
H
.V.
coil
to the spark
plug
is not interrupted or
does not spark
externally;
replace as
required
.
Check
that
the
wires
connecting
the
elec
tronic
control
unit
to
the
H.V.
coil
are
w
ell
connected
and not
inter·
rupted;
when
required replace the
fou
lly wire.
C
heck
the proper
electronic
control
unit
and H .V.
coil operation
replace
the defective
item.
REMEDY
Check the condition
of
the banery,
and
the
recharge
circuit.
Check
the regulotore;
if it
is
defective
it must
be
replaced being impossible
to
repair
il.
Aller
having
detected the
defect, recharge the
boN
ery.
To check
the recharge
current oper·
ate ad follow s.
Disconnect the wire
from term
inal+
o
f
the
battery and
place a
direct
current
ammeter between terminal
a
nd
w ire
!possibly
with
0 in the
center).
Start
the engine
until
a
~peed of 5000
rpm
i~
reached.
The ammeter must
display the
following
values:
o) max. current- I 0 A
if
the battery is
(}
almost
completely down;
:
b)
minimum
current
-
I A
i/
the battery
is
completely
charged.
According
to the
condition
o
f
the
ba ttery
charge,
intermedia te
values
o
re
recorded.
These
tests
must
be
carried
out
w ith
lights of.
Caution:
the ammeter must
be
con·
nected
always
with
the
engine
off.
