Water Pump Removal
Drain the coolant (see Coolant Change in the Periodic
Alternator Cover (see Alternator Cover Removal in the
Electrical System chapter)
Impeller Bolt [A] and Washer
The impeller bolt has left-hand threads. Turn the bolt
clockwise and remove it.
Water Pump Installation
Replace the washer with a new one.
Tighten the water pump impeller bolt together with a new
washer by turning the bolt counterclockwise.
Torque - Water Pump Impeller Bolt: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 106
Water Pump Inspection
Check the drainage outlet passage [A] at the bottom of
the crankcase for coolant leaks.
If the mechanical seal is damaged, the coolant leaks
through the seal and drains through the passage. Re-
place the mechanical seal unit.
Water Pump Impeller Disassembly/Assembly
Remove the water pump impeller (see Water Pump Re-

Remove the alternator cover (see Alternator Cover Re-
moval in the Electrical System chapter).
Visually inspect the water pump impeller [A].
If the surface is corroded or if the blades are damaged,
replace the impeller.
