23. When using iFIT.com CDs and videos, an electronic “chirping” sound will alert you when the speed and/or incline of the treadmill is about to change. Always listen for the “chirp” and be prepared for speed and/or in- cline changes. In some instances, the speed and/or incline may change before the per- sonal trainer describes the change.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the revolutionary NordicTrack R 7200 treadmill. The R 7200 treadmill offers a selec- tion of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective. And when you’re not exercising, the unique R 7200 treadmill can be folded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills.
ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Note: The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant. During shipping, a small amount of lubricant may be transferred to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton.

2. With the help of a second person, raise the Uprights (20) to the vertical position. Remove the knob from the pin. Make sure that the collars and the spring are on the pin. Next, press the Latch Insert (77) into the left Upright (20). Use a rubber mallet if nec- essary.

5. Cut the tie securing the wires to the right Upright (20). Have a second person hold the console assembly near the Uprights. Connect the Upright Wire Harness (73) and the Pulse Wire (74) to the wires extending from the console as- sembly.

8. Press the right Upright Cover (75) onto the right Upright (20). Attach the Upright Cover with a Cover Screw (90). Repeat this step on the other side (not shown). 9. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Keep the included allen wrench in a secure place.
HOW TO USE THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR HOW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR The chest pulse sensor consists of two components: the chest strap and the sensor unit (see the drawing below). Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into one end of the sensor unit, as shown in the inset draw- ing.
OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
Note: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console, remove it. FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjoyable. When the manual mode of the con- sole is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button.
HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER Note: To prevent damage to the walking platform, always wear clean shoes when using the treadmill. Plug in the power cord (see page 11). Next, lo- cate the reset/off circuit breaker near the power cord.

Follow your progress with the display. When the manual mode or the iFIT.com mode is se- lected, the center of the display will show a 1/4-mile track. As you walk or run, the indicators around the track will light in suc- cession until the entire track is lit.

Measure your heart rate if desired. Note: If you use the handgrip pulse sen- sor and the chest pulse sensor at the same Contacts time, the console will not display your heart rate accurately. Before using the hand- grip pulse sensor, remove the clear plastic film from the metal contacts.

If the speed and/or incline settings of the program are too high or too low, you can change the inten- sity level of the program at any time by turning the Program Intensity dial. If you wish to save the new intensity level of the program for future workouts, press the Save button.

To stop the program at any time, press the Stop button. The time will begin to flash in the display. To restart the program, press the Start button or the Speed increase button. The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph. When the next segment of the program begins, the treadmill will automati- cally adjust to the speed and incline settings for the next segment.

HOW TO CONNECT THE TREADMILL TO USE IFIT.COM PROGRAMS To use iFIT.com MP3 or CD programs, the treadmill must be connected to your MP3 player, CD player, portable stereo, home stereo, or computer. See pages 22 and 23 for connecting instructions. To use iFIT.com programs directly from our Web site, the treadmill must be connected to your computer.

THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE The console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has been used and the total number of miles that the walk- ing belt has moved. HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per- manently damaged. Remove the key and unplug the power cord.
HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the treadmill down until the walking plat- form is past the pin on the latch knob.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.

PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION: a. Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that meets all of the specifications described on page 11. b. If the walking belt is overtightened, treadmill perfor- mance may decrease and the walking belt may be- come damaged.

PROBLEM: The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly or does not change when iFIT.com CDs and videos are played SOLUTION: a. With the key in the console, press one of the Incline buttons. While the incline is changing, re- move the key.
