How to Use

This appliance is for household use only.

GeTTING STARTed

• R emove all packing material and any stickers from the product.
• P lease go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty.
• B efore first use, wash the interior of the kettle and removable filter with hot,
soapy water and rinse well until water is clear.
• S elect a level surface where this unit is to be used, allowing enough space
for steam to escape without damage to counters, cabinets and walls.
• U ncoil power cord from to cord storage under the base.
• F ill kettle with 2½ cups cold tap water and 1¼ cup vinegar and place on
base. Close lid.
• P lug cord into standard electrical outlet.
• B ring to a full boil (follow steps 6 – 8 in BoIlING WATeR) then discard the
water.
• F ill kettle with 6 cups of cold tap water. Bring to full boil and discard; repeat.
Kettle is now ready for use.
Note: The kettle will only operate when the on/off (I/o) switch is in the on (I)
position. The kettle will automatically switch off once the water has boiled.
The kettle will also automatically shut off if there is no water in the kettle.
Warning: This product is protected by a boil/dry safety device. If the kettle
is accidentally left plugged in without being filled or is allowed to boil to
a very low level, it will automatically repeat a cycle of turning off, cooling
down and coming back on unless unplugged.

FILLING THe KeTTLe

Press lid release button to lift the lid of kettle (B). Fill
with desired amount of cold tap water (from 3½ – 7 cups
(0.8 – 1.7 l). Be sure water does not come above the
bottom of the pour spout to prevent boiling water from
spilling onto the counter.

Note:
• do not operate the kettle without water.
• do not overfill the kettle – keep water level below the pour spout.
• do not open the cover while water is heating.

BOILING WATeR

1. Press lid release button to open lid of kettle.
2. Be sure kettle has at least 3½ cups (0.8 l) of cold tap
water in it before use.
3. Close lid on kettle securely. (lid snaps into place.)
4. Place kettle on base so the heating element on the
bottom of the kettle rests securely on the base (C).
