Night Portrait Assist

(Night portrait assist) mode is used for taking por-
trait shots at night, when it provides a natural balance
between the main subject and the background. A
framing menu helps you frame off-center subjects and
compose your shots. Pictures taken at slow shutter
speeds are adjusted to improve quality, slightly in-
creasing processing time.
• Functions for Night portrait assist mode are the same as for Portrait mode
(
31), but FACE-PRIORITY AF is not available.
• To prevent blurring, mount the camera on a tripod or rest it on a flat, sta-
ble surface.
• Noise reduction turns on automatically at slow shutter speeds (
takes more time than usual to store the picture.
