Problems When Receiving Faxes

The table below lists possible solutions when you are unable to receive a fax.
Symptom
Possible Cause

Remedy
Clean the document scanning glass.
Refer to
Cleaning the Document Presser and the
Narrow Glass Strip
on page 12-13.
Adjust the fax transmission density.
Refer to
Lighten/Darken
Check on the problem with the receiver.
Note:
Image quality problems can occur during fax
transmission not only due to problems with the
machine, but also due to problems with the sender
fax machine.
Remedy
Use a nearby phone to check whether the line is
working. If you can't make a call, the problem is
the phone line and not the machine.
The machine can't receive faxes if its power is not
on. Switch the machine's power on.
The machine can't print received faxes when there
is no paper loaded.
Check the machine's control panel and remove any
jammed paper.
Refer to

on page 13-46.
The machine can't receive faxes when in System
Administration mode. Exit System Administration
mode.
Check on the problem with the sender.
Note:
Fax transmission problems can occur only
due to problems with the machine, but also due to
problems with the sender fax machine.
