Removing the spring

Dismantling the damper

Condition
The shock absorber has been removed.
–
Clamp the shock absorber in the vise using soft jaws for protection.
–
Measure and note spring length in preloaded state.

Loosen retaining ring

Turn the retaining ring and adjusting ring until the spring is fully relieved of ten-
sion.

Press down the spring with the special tool.
Spring compressor (T101S) (
–
Remove spring retainer

Take off spring

Remove the spring. (
–
Establish and note the current state of the rebound damping and compression
damping.
–
Completely open the adjusters of the rebound and compression damping.
–
Remove cap
–
Press in valve needle
The pressurized nitrogen escapes.

Remove locking cap

and the adjusting ring with the special tool.
