La misura di tensioni
Le misure delle tensioni devono essere
effettuate collegando sempre i
terminali del multimentro in parallelo
all'elemento alimentato elettricamente
(ad esempio sui due fili che arrivano
ad una lampadina, o sui due fili che
alimentano un relè, o sui due morsetti
della batteria, o sui due fili che
alimentano una centralina). Le tensioni
possono essere costanti nel tempo
(tensione continua) o variabili nel
tempo (alternate). Nel primo caso
esiste una polarità negativa ed una
positiva. Bisogna dunque selezionare
sul multimetro anche il tipo di tensione
che deve essere misurata. (La tensione
continua è indicata con il simbolo = e
quella alternata con il simbolo ~).
La misura di correnti
Le misure delle correnti devono essere
effettuate collegando sempre i
terminali del multimetro in serie
all'elemento alimentato elettricamente
(ad esempio occorre staccare un filo
che alimenta una lampadina e collegare
alla estremità del filo stesso un
terminale del multimetro e l'altro
terminale alla lampadina. Accendendo il
commutatore delle luci la lampadina si
illuminerà normalmente e lo strumento
indicherà la corrente assorbita e cioè
quella che circola nel filo). Attenzione: i
collegamenti in serie vanno effettuati e
rimossi sempre quando non c'è
tensione. Non si deve mai effettuare od
eliminare un collegamento in serie
quando un dispositivo è alimentato.
Assicurarsi sempre che il collegamento
in serie dei terminali del tester fatto sul
dispositivo elettrico, sia realizzato in
modo sicuro e che perciò non possa
interrompersi in modo accidentale.
Voltage measurement
Voltage measurements must be
carried out by connecting the
terminals of the tester in parallel to
the electrically powered device (e.g.
to the wires feeding a light bulb or a
relay, the two battery terminals, or
the two wires supplying power to a
control unit). Voltages can be
constant over time (direct voltage) or
variable over time (alternating). In the
first case, it is important to consider
the negative and positive polarity of
the application. It is therefore
necessary to select on the multimeter
the type of voltage you intend to
measure (continuous voltage is
shown by the symbol = while
alternating voltage is denoted by ~).
Current measurement
Current measurements must be
made by connecting the multimeter
terminals in series with the
electrically powered device (e.g.
disconnect one of the wires feeding
power to a light bulb and connect one
terminal of the multimeter to the free
end of wire and the other terminal to
the light bulb. When the lights switch
is set to On, the bulb will illuminate
normally and the tester will show the
absorbed current, i.e. the amount of
current passing through the wire).
Warning: connections in series must
be made and removed only when the
power is switched off. Never attempt
to make or break a series connection
when a device is powered. Always
make sure that the series connection
of the tester terminals on the
electrical device is made in a safe
manner in such a way that it
cannot be broken accidentally.
