4- Air bleeding (FIG.23)
NOTE
Perform this operation with legs fully in rebound (front wheel up from the soil),
still fitted in the motorcycle.
PROCEDURE
Every month or after each ride, unscrew the bleeder screw (14) on the top of
each slider, to depressurize the legs. This pressure is produced by the air
trapped inside while riding. Due to the special oil seal shape, the air cannot
go out, thus causing some fork problems.
When finished, tighten the bleeder screws (14).
INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT: the fork should be assembled on the frame in compliance with
the motorcycle Manufacturer's specifications as far as the steering elements
and the wheel fastening are concerned. An improper assembly can jeopardize
both rider's safety and life.
- Assemble the stanchion tubes in the lower + upper crown and position them
at the same height.
- Tighten the fastening screws of the stanchion tubes on the lower + upper
crown using a torque of 25 Nm, following the above 1-2-1 procedure.
- Tighten the locking nuts of the wheel pin on the sliders using a torque of 10
Nm, following the above 1-2-1 procedure.
DISASSEMBLY
NOTE
The reference numbers in this chapter refer to the parts belonging to the fork
exploded view on page I.41.
This chapter deals with the disassembly procedures for the legs already
removed from the crown and steering head.

- 21-mm socket wrench;
- proper tool to block the damper body, part no. R5081AA;
Tightening torque for check nut on rod and foot screw 10 Nm
