Off-Hook Signaling

Off-Hook Signaling helps important callers get through.
When a user is busy on a call, Off-Hook Signaling indicates that another caller is trying to get through.
Off-Hook Signaling helps important callers get through, without waiting in line for the called extension to
become free. After the user hears the off-hook signal, they can use other system features (such as Hold or
Park) to process their active call and then answer the waiting call.

Off-Hook Signaling for Trunk Calls

While a user is on a trunk call, Off-Hook Signaling can be:
While on a handset call, a flashing green Ring/Message lamp, line/loop key, and muted off-hook ring-
ing. (While Off-Hook Signaling ringing is occurring, use
of ringing.) This is the default setting.
While on a handset or Handsfree call, a flashing green line/loop key and Camp-On tones.
Off-Hook Ringing for trunks occurs for DILs, transferred trunk calls, Voice Mail Automated Attendant
transfers, Call Coverage Key calls, Group Call Pickup key calls, and Key Ring calls. Note that single line
telephone users cannot receive off-hook ringing.

Off-Hook Signaling for Intercom Calls

While an extension user is on a handset call, they can receive Camp-On tones in the telephone handset from
a co-worker that called them and dialed 2 to Camp-On. Turn to Call Waiting / Camp-On on page 2-3 for
more on how to set this up. Off-hook ringing for Intercom calls is not available. Camp-On tones in the tele-
phone handset is the default setting.

Off-Hook Signaling for Hotline Calls

While an extension user is on a handset call, they can receive Camp-On tones in the telephone handset when
their Hotline Partner calls them by pressing their Hotline key. This is the default setting.
