    DANGER: This machine was built to be operated according to the safe operation practices in this manual. As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the operator can Safe result in serious injury. This machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throwing objects. Failure to observe the following safety instructions could result in serious injury or death.

  • Page 5: Maintenance And Storage

    Operation 1. Do not put hands or feet near rotating parts, in the auger/ impeller housing or chute assembly. Contact with the rotating parts can amputate hands and feet. 2. The auger/impeller control lever is a safety device. Never bypass its operation. Doing so makes the machine unsafe and may cause personal injury.
  • Page 6 IMPORTANT: This unit is shipped WITH OIL and WITHOUT GASOLINE. After assembly refer to separate engine manual for proper fuel and engine oil recommendations. NOTE: Reference to right hand or left hand side of Setup And machine are observed from the operating position. Adjustment NOTE: This Operator’s Manual covers several models.

Check the tire pressure periodically and maintain equal pressure in both tires at all times. Excessive pressure (well above 20 psi) may cause the wheel (tire/rim) assembly to burst with sufficient force to cause serious injury.

    Know Your Snow Thrower Clean- out Tool WARNING Be familiar with all the controls on the snow thrower and their proper operation. Know how to stop the machine and disengage them quickly. Never make adjust- Throttle Control ments to the chute The throttle control is located on the engine.

    Gas and Oil Fill-up • Service the engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the separate engine manual packed with your snowthrower. Read instructions carefully. WARNING: Never fill fuel tank indoors. Never fill fuel tank with engine running or while engine is hot. Do not smoke when filling fuel tank.

    Stopping the Engine Operation Run engine for a few minutes before stopping to help dry off any moisture on the engine. Move throttle control to STOP position. Remove the ignition key. Removing the key will reduce the possibility of unauthorized starting of the engine while equipment is not in use.

    Operating Tips • For most efficient snow removal, remove snow immediately after it falls. • Discharge snow downwind whenever possible. Slightly overlap each previous swath. • Set the slide shoes 1/4” below the shave plate for normal usage. The slide shoes may be adjusted to low position, see Figure for hard-packed snow.

    General Recommendations 1. Always observe safety rules when performing any maintenance. 2. The warranty on this snow thrower does not cover items that have been subjected to operator abuse or negligence. To receive full value from the war- Maintenance ranty, operator must maintain the snow thrower as instructed in this manual.

    Observe the following, when preparing your snow thrower for off-season storage: • Drain fuel into an approved container outdoors, away from any open flame. Allow engine to cool. Extin- Off-Season guish cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other sources of ignition prior to draining fuel. Fuel left in engine Storage during warm weather deteriorates and will cause serious starting problems.
