PURCHASED INCALIFORNIA IN1995 AND THEREAFTER, WHICH ARE USED INCALIFORNIA, USED E LSEWHERE INTHE UNITED S TATES (AND AFTER J ANUARY 1,2001INCANADA).

TheCalifornia Air Resources Board (CARB), U.S. E PA andSears arepleased to explainthe
Emission C ontrol S ystem Warrantyonyourmodelyear2000andlatersmalloff-road
engine(SORE). InCalifornia, n ewsmalloff-roadengines mustbedesigned, b uilt and
equipped to meetthe State's stringentanti-smogstandards. Elsewhere i nthe United
States, n ewnon-road, s park-ignition engines certifiedformodelyear1997 andlater
mustmeetsimilarstandards setforth bythe U.S. E PA. Sears mustwarrantthe emission
controlsystem on yourengineforthe periodsof time listedbelow,providedtherehas
beennoabuse, n eglector impropermaintenance o fyoursmalloff-roadengine.Your
emission controlsystem includespartssuchasthe carburetor, air cleaner, i gnition
system, m ufflerandcatalyticconverter. A lsoincluded maybe connectors a ndother
emission relatedassemblies. Whereawarrantable conditionexists, S ears will repair
yoursmalloff-roadengineat nocostto youincludingdiagnosis, p artsandlabor.
Sears Emission Control Defects Warranty Coverage
Small o ff-roadengines arewarrantedrelativetoemission controlpartsdefects fora
periodof oneyear, s ubjectto provisions setforth below.Ifanycovered parton your

Asthe smalloff-roadengineowner,youareresponsible f orthe performance o f the
requiredmaintenance l istedinyourOperating andMaintenance I nstructions. Sears
recommends t hat youretainall yourreceipts covering maintenance o nyoursmall
off-roadengine,but Sears cannotdenywarrantysolelyforthe lackofreceipts or for
yourfailureto ensure the performance o f all scheduled maintenance. Asthe small
off-roadengine owner,youshouldhowever b eawarethatSears maydenyyouwarranty
coverage if yoursmalloff-roadengineor apart hasfaileddueto abuse, n eglect,
engineisdefective, t he partwill berepairedor replaced bySears.
Responsibilities

2. Lengthof Coverage
Sears w arrantsto the initialownerandeachsubsequent purchaser that the
Warranted Partsshallbefreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanship which
caused the failureof theWarrantedParts foraperiodof oneyearfrom the date
the engineisdeliveredto aretailpurchaser.
3. NoCharge
Repair o r replacement of anyWarrantedPartwill beperformedat nochargeto
the owner,includingdiagnostic laborwhichleads to the determination thata
Warranted Partisdefective, i f the diagnostic work isperformed at anAuthorized
Sears Service Dealer. F or e missions w arrantyservice contactyournearest
Authorized Sears Service Dealer a slistedinthe "YellowPages" u nder"Engines,
Gasoline," " Gasoline Engines," "LawnMowers," o r similarcategory.
4. Claims andCoverage E xclusions
Warrantyclaims shallbefiled inaccordance with the provisions o f the Sears
Engine WarrantyPolicy. W arrantycoverage s hallbeexcluded forfailuresof
Warranted Parts whicharenot originalSears partsor because o f abuse, n eglect
or impropermaintenance a ssetforth inthe Sears Engine WarrantyPolicy. S ears
is not liableto coverfailuresofWarranted Partscaused bythe useofadd-on,
non-original,or modifiedparts.
5. Maintenance
AnyWarranted Partwhichis not scheduled forreplacement asrequired
maintenance o r whichisscheduled onlyforregularinspection to the effectof
"repairor replace asnecessary" shallbe warranted astodefectsforthe warranty
period.AnyWarranted Partwhichisscheduled for replacement asrequired
maintenance s hallbewarrantedasto defects onlyforthe periodoftime up
to the first scheduled replacement forthat part.Anyreplacement part thatis
equivalent i n performance a nddurabilitymaybeusedin the performance o f
anymaintenance o r repairs. T he owneris responsible f or the performance o f
all required maintenance, asdefinedinthe Sears Operating andMaintenance
Instructions.
Consequential Coverage
Coverage h ereunder s hallextendto the failureofanyenginecomponents c aused
bythe failureofanyWarranted Partstill underwarranty.
