Muffler
Temperatureof muffler and nearbyengine areasmay exceed150 ° F(65°C).
Avoid contactwith theseareas.
Inspect m ufflerperiodically, andreplace if necessary. Replacement parts
forthe mufflermustbethe sameandinstalledinthe samepositionasthe
originalparts.
CleanEngine
Dailyor before everyuse,cleangrass, c haffor accumulated d ebrisfrom
engine.Keep linkage, s pring, a ndcontrols clean.
Keep areaaround andbehindmufflerfreeof anycombustible debris.
Keeping engineclean allowsair movement a round engine.
Engine partsshouldbekeptcleanto reducethe riskofoverheating and
ignitionofaccumulated debris.
Donotusewater to cleanengine parts. Watercould contaminatefuel
system.Useabrush or dry cloth.
IIVIPORTANT: Theuseof apressure washer to cleanyourtractorisNOT
recommended. It maycause damage to electrical c omponents, spindles, p ulleys,
bearings or the engine.
Carburetor Adjustment
Thecarburetor o nthisengineis not adjustable.
Lubrication
Beforelubricating, repairing, or inspecting, alwaysdisengage
(Blade
PTO
EngageLever), m oveshift leverinto neutral position,set parking brake,stop
engine andremovekeyto prevent unintendedstarting.
Engine
Lubricate the enginewith motoroil asinstructed i n the Engine Owner's Manual
packed with yourunit.
Pivot Points & Linkage
Lubricate all the pivot pointsonthe drivesystem, p arkingbrakeandlift linkageat
leastonceaseason with light oil.
Rear Wheels
Therearwheelsshouldberemoved fromthe axlesonceaseason. L ubricate the
axles andthe rimswell with anall-purpose greasebefore re-installingthem.
Front Wheels
Thefront wheels shouldberemoved fromthe axlesonceaseason. L ubricate the
axles andthe rimswell with anall-purpose greasebefore re-installingthem.
DeckWash
Your t ractor'sdeckisequipped with awaterporton its surface aspart ofits Deck
WashSystem
TM,
followtheseinstructions to utilizethisfeature.
Usethe Deck Wash to rinsegrassclippings from the deck's underside andprevent
the buildupof corrosive chemicals. C omplete t he followingstepsAFTER E ACH
MOWING:
1.
Drive the tractorto alevel,clearspoton yourlawn,nearenoughforyour
garden hoseto reach.
Makecertain the tractor's dischargechuteisdirectedAWAY from your house,
garage,parkedcars,etc.

Disengage t he PTO (Blade Engage),setthe parkingbrake andstopthe
engine.
3.
Thread the hosecoupler(packaged w ith yourtractor'sOperator's M anual)
ontotheendof yourgardenhose.
4.
Attachthe hosecouplertothe waterport onthe deck'ssurface. S eeFigure
13.

Turnthe wateron.
Whilesitting in theoperator's positiononthe tractor,start the engineand
placethethrottle leverinthe FAST ( rabbit)position.
