Engine
Referto the Engine Owner's Manual f orenginemaintenance i nstructions.
Check e ngineoil levelbeforeeachuseasinstructed in the Engine Owner's Manual
packed with yourunit. Followthe instructions carefully.
Changing Engine
Oil
Theengineoil shouldbechanged inthe first 5 hoursandthenevery50 hoursor
onceaseason. T ochange the engineoil, proceed asfollows:
I.
WithengineOFF but stillwarm,disconnect sparkplug wireandkeepit away
fromsparkplug.

Remove t he oil fill cap/dipstkkfrom the oil fill tube.See Figure 11.

Turnthe steeringwheelall the wayto the rightto betterexpose thedrain
plug.

Clipthe oil drainsleeve (packed withthismanual) o ntothe oil drainport.
Routethe opposite endof the sleeve into anappropriate oil collection
container w itha capacity greatenough to collectthe usedoil.
5.
Remove t he oil drainplug,Theoil will beginto drainout ofthe engine.
6.
Afterthe oil hasfinisheddraining,replace the oil drainplugandtighten.Be
careful n ot to overtighten.
Remove t he oil drainsleeve andretainfor lateruse.

Refillthe enginewith newmotoroil asinstructed in the Engine Operator's
Manual i ncluded with thistractor.Seethe Engine Owner's Manual i ncluded
with thistractorfor properoil capacity.
Gasolineand itsvaporsare extremely flammable andexplosive.Fireor
explosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
Keep gasoline awayfromsparks, o penflames,pilotlights,heat,andother
ignitionsources.
Check f uel lines,tank,cap,andfittings frequentlyforcracks or leaks.Replace
if necessary.
Before replacingthefuel filter,drainthe fueltank asperthe instructions
below.
Donot drainfuel whenthe engineishot.Allowthe engineadequate time to
cool.Drainfuel intoanapproved container o utdoors, a wayfrom openflame.
Drainanylargevolume of fuelfrom the tank bydisconnecting thefuel line
from the in-linefuelfilter nearthe engine.
Remove t he fuellinefrom the In-lineside(sidetowardsthe fueltank)of the
fuel filter.
Replacement partsmustbethe sameandinstalledinthe samepositionas
the originalparts.
Iffuel spills,waituntil it evaporates b efore startingengine.
Before replacingthefuel filter,drainthe fueltank.Otherwise, fuel canleak
out andcause afire or explosion.
To Drain the fuel:
1.
Locate t he fuelfilter,whichisroutedonthe leftsideofthe engine between
the fueltankandthecarburetor, andmaybeattached to theenginewithatie
strap.Cut t he tiestrap,if present, t henpinchthein-lineclamponthe fuelfilter
with apairofpliers,slidethe clampupthefuel line.Pullthefuellinefreefrom
the filter andplace theopenendofthe lineintoanapproved c ontainer t o drain
the fuel.
To change the fuel filter:
1.
Use pliersto squeeze the tabson theotherclamp(theout-linesideof the
fuel filter), thenslidetheclampawayfromthe fuel filter.Twist a ndpullthe
fuel lineoffofthe fuel filter.SeeFigure 12.
