Install the front fork temporary.
Install the washer [A] and the steering stem head nut [B].
Torque - Steering Stem Head Nut: 108 N·m (11.0 kgf·m, 80
Install the removed parts (see appropriate chapters).
Check and adjust the following after installation.
Steering (see Steering Play Inspection in the Periodic
Throttle Cables (see Free Play Adjustment in the Fuel
System (DFI) chapter)
Headlight Aim (see Headlight Beam Horizontal and ver-
tical Adjustment in the Electrical System chapter)
Check the front brake effectiveness.
After servicing, it takes several applications of the
brake lever before the brake pads contact the disc,
which could result in increased stopping distance
and cause an accident resulting in injury or death.
Do not attempt to ride the motorcycle until a firm
brake lever is obtained by pumping the lever until
the pads are against the disc.
Steering Stem Warp Inspection
Whenever the steering stem is removed, or if the steer-
ing cannot be adjusted for smooth operation, check the
steering stem for straightness.
If the steering stem [A] is bent, replace the steering stem.
