Oil Screen Installation
Clean the oil screen thoroughly whenever it is removed
for any reason.
While cleaning the screen, check for any metal particles
that might indicate internal engine damage.
Clean the oil screen with a high-flash point solvent and
remove any particles stuck to them.
Gasoline and low-flash point solvents can be
flammable and/or explosive and cause severe
burns. Clean the screen in a well-ventilated area,
and take care that there are no sparks or flame
anywhere near the working area; this includes any
appliance with a pilot light. Do not use gasoline or
a low-flash point solvent to clean the screen.
Check the screen [A] carefully for any damage, holes, and
If the screen is damaged, replace it.
Install the oil screen so that grommet side [A] faces in-
Replace the O-ring [D] with a new one.
Apply grease to the new O-ring.
Apply molybdenum disulfide grease [E] to the threads of
the oil screen plug [F].
Torque - Oil Screen Plugs: 20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 15 ft·lb)
