emergency calls

Your service provider programs one or more
emergency phone numbers (such as 911) that
you can call under any circumstances, even
when your phone is locked or the SIM card is
not inserted. Emergency numbers vary by
country. Your pre-programmed emergency
number(s) may not work in all locations, and
sometimes an emergency call cannot be
placed due to network, environmental, or
interference issues.
Dial 911 or your local emergency number to
be connected to an emergency response
center. If you are on an active call, you must
end it before making an emergency call.
Note: Your mobile device can use GPS and
AGPS signals to help emergency services find
you. See "GPS & AGPS" on page 59.
Note: Emergency calls cannot be placed
while the keypad is locked, or if your phone is
displaying a No Service message in the home
screen. To unlock the keypad, press / > *.
Important: Always report your location to the
911 operator when placing an emergency call.
Some designated emergency call takers,
known as Public Safety Answering Points
(PSAPs), may not be equipped to receive GPS
location information from your phone.
