14.12 FrontEndPC

The FrontEndPC control program can be installed on a PC with USB interface. In

addition to the program, drivers for the USB adapter (CP2101) must be installed (see

readme.txt on the installation disk).

The USB adapter is attached between the USB connection of the PC and the X8 plug

connector of the AT18 controller. The connection is made through the two cables

provided.

For communication to occur, the AT18 controller must be turned on.

After starting the FrontEndPC program the following window appears on the screen.

Please first select the language and push the "establish connection to AT" button. Then a

window appears, in which the USB COM interface of the PC can be selected.

The description of the COM interface for the attached USB adapter can be found, for

example, in Windows XP under Ports in the Device Manager (over Start open Control

Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager, Ports).

Now you are able to call up the user terminal emulation, the run time curve editor or the

oscilloscope function.

Then the FrontEndPC with the user terminal emulation, run time curve editor and

oscilloscope function is operational.

The HT18 user terminal is simulated by means of the user terminal emulation. The

operation and menu control is the as same previously shown (see 14.11).

Over the "main menu" you again reach the FrontEndPC's main menu.
