(Refer to the maintenance precautions on
page 57).
The service life of the drive chain is
dependent upon proper lubrication and
adjustment. Poor maintenance can cause
premature wear or damage to the drive
chain and sprockets. Under severe usage,
or when the motorcycle is ridden in dusty
areas, more frequent maintenance will be
necessary.
1. T u r n
t h e e n g i n e o f f , place t h e
motorcycle on its center stand and shift
the transmission into neutral.
2. The
drive chain slack should be
checked with the drive chain slack
gauge furnished in the tool set.
3. Hold the gauge on the bottom of the
swingarm with the center of the gauge
aligned with the ""
swingarm and the "UP" mark on the
gauge facing up.
4. Check that the top edge of the drive
chain is between the marks A and В on
