Rotating the Main Handle
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
The main handle 27 can be rotated with respect to the ma-
chine housing toward the left or right in steps of 90°. In this
manner, the On/Off switch can be brought into a more con-
venient position for special working situations, e.g., for cut-
ting operations using the cutting guide with dust extraction
protection guard 23 or for left-handed persons.
Press the handle unlocking button 28 in the direction of the
arrow and at the same time turn the main handle 27 to the re-
quested position until it latches.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Dusts from materials such as lead-containing coatings,
some wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to
one's health. Touching or breathing-in the dusts can cause
allergic reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of
the user or bystanders.

Run-on Brake (GWS 24-230 VX/GWS 24-230 JVX)

compared with angle grinders without run-on brake, which al-
lows for the power tool to be placed down sooner.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are considered
as carcinogenic, especially in connection with wood-treat-
ment additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials
containing asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– As far as possible, use a dust extraction system suita-
ble for the material.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the
materials to be worked.
Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace. Dusts can
easily ignite.
Observe correct mains voltage! The voltage of the pow-
er source must agree with the voltage specified on the
nameplate of the machine. Power tools marked with
230 V can also be operated with 220 V.
Check grinding tools before using. The grinding tool
must be mounted properly and be able to move freely.
Carry out a test run for at least one minute with no load.
Do not use damaged, out-of-centre or vibrating grind-
ing tools. Damaged grinding tools can burst and cause in-
juries.
The power tool is equipped with the Bosch
Brake System, a patented electromechani-
cal run-on brake.
When switching off or when the power sup-
ply is interrupted, the machine comes to a
complete stop within a few seconds. This
