3.5” HDD Modification - DS5-OE For the DS5 to recognise the internal drive, the HDD has to spin up and be ready before the system boots. For some hard drives, the spin up time can be quite long and some drives may not be recognised at all.

Depending on the drive installed and the network, this could take between 10 and 30 seconds. Note: The DS5 will only look for new network devices during boot up. If you change any of the network related settings, restart the device to ensure the new setup takes effect.
User Guide Network Category In this category, you can configure how the DS5 is connected to the local network and set up the links to a local computer or network disk for PC1/2. Use the arrow keys on your remote control for navigation and the ENTER button to configure the settings.
Note: If the NTP server is enabled, the time will be synchronised via the internet at boot up. Make sure the internet connection works, or otherwise the DS5 will reset its time and start from 09:00.
Standby - Plays title file at boot up and then waits for further user input (buttons 000-999). [Remote Command Path] Define the location that the DS5 should monitor for remote commands. Set it to HDD if you intend to use the Configuration Tool or TFTP.

Tip: To upload settings when the internet connection is not yet set up, use the copy function. Store the config.conf file on a USB drive, connect it to the DS5, go to the SETUP menu and select Copy from USB to HDD. Once the file(s) have been copied, turn off the unit via remote control and press 1111 to enter the Configuration Management wizard.
Your current firmware date can be seen once you enter the setup menu. The date will be displayed in the top left corner. Periodically, the DS5 firmware will be upgraded to offer new functions and improvements. You will find it on your vendor’s website. Download the latest version, store it on a USB drive and start the upgrade procedure as follows.
Shared Folder on WinXP To access a shared folder on a local PC, you will need a computer which is connected to the same local network as your DS5. The guest account has to be enabled for the DS5 to access the computer.

Automated Play Modes [Standard] Default setting for the standard media player with user input via remote control. The DS5 will show the main page after boot up and present the user a choice to access the files using the file library.

If it can not connect to the internet at boot up, the system time will be off and the Auto ON/OFF function therefore inaccurate.
DS5 has access to a NTP server to synchronise the time. If there is no particular playlist for that day, the DS5 will use the list from the previous day that has already been renamed to play.lst.
[reloadplaylist] This command will refresh the playlist and file content. Note: The DS5 will check for these command files in the remote command path every 5 seconds. To set this path, go to the setup menu and select the Misc2 category. If you are planning to use TFTP or the Configuration Tool, set it to HDD, if you are planning to store them on a remote server or LAN disk, set it to PC1 or PC2.
Note: If you are not in the same network, make sure your router is set up to forward the traffic on port 69 to your DS5 and the firewall will allow the traffic to pass through. Not all routers support port forwarding, so you might not be able to access the DS5 unless you are...
Q: What is the current version of my firmware? A: You can see the date of your current firmware in the setup menu. Turn on your DS5 and once ready, press the SETUP button on your remote control to enter the setup menu. The date will be displayed on that screen.
