If the width of the front end solid (La) is equal to that of the rear end
solid (Lb), no adjustment is required.
Otherwise, follow the steps 4 to 7 described below:
4 Loosen screws securing the mirror base driving pulley on the
rear frame side.
If La is bigger than Lb, rotate the mirror base driving pulley on
the rear frame side in the A direction. (Do not rotate the flange
and the shaft of the mirror base driving pulley).
If La is smaller than Lb, rotate the mirror base driving pulley on
the rear frame side in the B direction. (Do not rotate the flange
and the shaft of the mirror base driving pulley).
5 Tighten the screws securing the mirror base driving pulley.
6 Repeat steps 1 to 3.
7 If La is not equal to Lb, repeat steps 4 and 5 until La=Lb.

(8) Correcting the Lateral Distortion

If the lateral distortion occurs without the longitudinal distortion(dis-
tortion in the mirror base scanning direction), the lateral distortion
can be corrected by adjusting the height of 2. and 3. mirror base
and/or the eccentric roller of 4. and 5. mirror base.
The correction procedure is as follows:
Original
1 Preparing the reference original:
On an A3-size or 11" x 17" blank paper, draw 2 parallel lines at
the positions 10 mm away from the both ends.
2 Take a full-size copy of the paper using an A3-size or 11" x 17"
paper.
3 Measure and the distance between the paper end and the line
at 4 positions (La, Lb, Lc and Ld).
