MOUNTING COMPONENT SPEAKERS
The prime objectives of component speaker mounting are:
q
Positioning the speakers correctly
q
Mounting them to a solid surface
q
Making sure there are no air leaks between the front and back of the woofer cone
n
Protecting the speakers
q
Ensuring the wiring is correct
The lower the frequencies a speaker reproduces, the more solid it's mounting surface must be.
This is necessary because a vibrating panel winds up acting like another loudspeaker and
introduces its own sound into the car. This secondary sound can severely degrade the sound of
the music yielding a "muffled" or "howling" sound at certain listening'levels. A good air seal
isolating the sound from the back of the speaker from the front wave sound is critical. Lack of a
good air seal reduces the bass response and often creates a "hollow" sound from the woofer.
The tweeter's mounting is not nearly so critical since it does not require a rear air seal and it
vibrates very little.
WIRING
Your ProComponent series speakers have
crossovers with wires which are clearly
marked regarding input (RED), tweeter output
(YELLOW), and the woofer output (GREEN).
Proper electrical phasing is maintained by
electrically "keyed" terminals using narrow
and wide spade terminals.
The crossover network is optimized for use
with these tweeters. If you prefer an active
crossover network, the lowest crossover point
should be 4.0 kHz and with 12 dB/octave
high-pass.
Speaker wiring should be isolated from the
electrical system of the car and routed away
from any factory systems to avoid potential
noise pickup. If installing these speakers in
combination with other speakers make sure
that the combined impedances cannot
damage the amplifier or radio.

SYSTEM TEST

Once the system is installed, turn on the audio system power and SLOWLY turn up the volume
while playing a favorite music track.
n
If the signal is heavily distorted or the music occasionally drops out check for short circuits of
wires to other wires or to the chassis of the car.
n
If nothing is heard at all but the power lights come on, check all connections between the radio
and speaker.
n
If the radio or amp does not turn on at all, contact your Blaupunkt dealer for help or the
Blaupunkt Technical support at l-800-266-2528.
