Q&A

Which conditions shall update FW?

Totally, X34, XB240HA, XB270HA and XB281HK both are having 6 parts FW combination to become G-SYNC model.

  1. Bit-stream
The modules ship pre-programmed with Rel7, which is the exact same RTL and DP CPU code as is in Rel8. The RTL and DP CPU code hasn't changed since Rel7. So this part we don't need to flash it unless NV updates RTL or DP CPU code.
  2. Module micro-controller
The modules ship pre-programmed with 1.12, which is the latest version for G-SYNC models. This part we don't need to flash it unless NV updates it for resolve specific issues.
  3. Bitmaps(.bin)
The OSD combination has through bitmaps to scrape together become Acer style OSD. Therefore, if have any change of OSD, for example, update multi languages or change any bitmaps...etc, then need to update this part.
  4. OSD navigate FW(.elf)
The OSD navigation is through this part to control it. Therefore, any navigation issues have been found by end user or NV updates OSD_lib for resolve specific issues...etc, and then need to update this part.
  5. Panel profile
The panel profile includes OD and Gamma table. Both tables had been fine turned by NVIDIA. It also got the certification from NVIDIA. Therefore we don't need to update it after MP unless NVIDIA updates it for resolve specific issues.
  6. Base board micro-controller
This part is controlled Keypad, LED light and USB hub power on/off. It don't need to update it unless have any change for Keypad, LED light and USB power on/off behavior..etc.
Basically, c, d and e will be update together base on experience. It can base to flash it together.

Have any update sequence for 6 parts FW?

The first priority is Bit-Stream. After that, no any update sequence for other 5 parts. Besides, if have any parts be updated and shall doing AC power cycle to reset and restart module.

Why has not Product SN of OSD?

G-SYNC module doesn't provide communicate bridge between MNT and PC. Therefore, TPV can't write PN, vendor and version code into EEPROM. It only SN can through NVIDIA's tool to write data to EEPROM.

How to check G-SYNC function is active?

It can link to http://www.nvidia.com/coolstuff/demos#!/g-sync to download demo program.

How to check ULMB function is active?

A good synthetic demo is the Blur Busters UFO test, found at www.testufo.com. Enable and disable ULMB while staring at the moving UFO image.
