    Chapter 1: Introduction Welcome Thank you for choosing the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with 2 Phone Ports. This Router will allow you to network wirelessly better than ever, sharing Internet access, files and fun, easily and securely. Plus, after you have set up your Internet phone service, you can make phone or fax calls using your Internet connection.

    Chapter 2: Planning Your Wireless Network Network Topology A wireless local area network (WLAN) is exactly like a regular local area network (LAN), except that each computer in the WLAN uses a wireless device to connect to the network. Computers in a WLAN share the same frequency channel and SSID, which is an identification name shared by the wireless devices belonging to the same wireless network.

    Chapter 4: Connecting the Router Overview To begin installation of the Router, you will connect the Router to your PCs, telephone(s) or fax machine(s), and cable or DSL modem. The following connection diagram illustrates a basic network setup wired connections to one desktop PC and telephone and a wireless connection to one notebook PC.

Some ISPs will require you to register a MAC address in order to access the Internet. If you do not wish to re-register the MAC address with your ISP, you may assign the MAC address you have currently registered with your ISP to the Router with the MAC Address Clone feature.

    The Setup Tab - Advanced Routing The Advanced Routing screen allows you to configure the Network Address Translation (NAT), dynamic routing, and static routing settings. Advanced Routing NAT. NAT is a security feature that is enabled by default. It enables the Router to translate IP addresses of your local area network to a different IP address for the Internet.

(WPA stands for Wi-Fi Protected Access, which is a security standard stronger than WEP encryption.
