Quick Start Guide – LG P500 Optimus One

Using Contacts

• To view your contacts, from the home screen, tap the Contacts icon.
• To create a new contact, from the home screen, tap the Contacts icon. Press the
Menu key. Tap New Contact. Tap the First name field and enter the contact's
first name. Scroll to and tap the Surname field and enter the contact's surname.
Scroll down and tap the Mobile Phone field and enter the contact's mobile phone
number. Repeat the procedure if you wish to add more details to your contact. Once
you are finished, tap Done.
• To change your contact numbers to NZ country code +64, double tap the "*" key
followed by 64 then remove the first 0 from the dialling code. The number will read
+64 27 123 4567 or +64 9 123 4567.
Using Favourite Contacts
To save time you can mark your frequently dialled contacts in your favourites and
reduce time to search for them in your contact list:
• To add a contact to your Favourites' list, tap the Contacts icon. Scroll to and tap the
contact you wish to add as a favourite. Tap the Favourite's icon (star).
• To call a person from your Favourites' list, from the home screen tap the Call icon.
Tap the Favourites tab. Tap the desired contact then tap the Call icon.
Using Messaging - Text, Voicemail and Email
To send a text message:
• From the home screen, tap the Messaging icon. Tap New Message. Tap the To field
and enter the recipient's phone number or tap the Add contact icon to select from
your contacts. Tap the Type to compose field and enter your message. Once you are
finished, tap Send.
To check your voicemail:
• F rom the home screen, tap the Call icon. Tap and hold down the 1 key. A personal greeting makes all the difference
and means people are more likely to leave a message. Here is a personal greeting anyone can use:
Hi, this is <your name>. I'm not available right now, but if you leave your name, number and a brief message I'll get
back to you as soon as possible.
To set-up email on your mobile:
• From the home screen, tap the Applications launcher icon. Tap the Email icon. Tap the desired Email Service
Provider. Enter the E-mail address. Tap the Password field and enter the password. Tap Next. If required edit the
already populated Server Settings. Scroll to the Use secure connection checkbox and ensure that it is ticked. Tap
Next. Tap OK if prompted to finish setting up the account. Continue to enter desired settings. Tap Next. You may now
wish to enter a name for the account. Tap Done. Tap Activate.

    • On the Bluetooth Settings menu, ensure the Discoverable field’s checkbox is ticked. Tap Scan for Devices. Scroll to and tap the desired Bluetooth device. In the PIN field, type “PIN” and tap the Enter key. Tap OK. Enter “PIN” on the device you wish to pair. Power Management To extend the battery life of your mobile, follow these simple steps: • Decrease the brightness of the screen (From the home screen, tap the Applications launcher icon. Scroll to and tap the Settings icon. Scroll to and tap Display. Scroll to and tap Brightness. Tap, hold and drag the slider to the left to reduce the level. Tap OK. • Change the time-out after which the backlight is switched off (From the home screen, tap the Applications launcher icon. Scroll to and tap the Settings icon. Scroll to and tap Display. Scroll to and tap Screen time-out. Tap on a shorter timeout option. • Set Bluetooth® to off when not in use. • Set Wi-Fi® to off when not in use.
