The term "power tool" in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

    ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a “live” wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator.

    GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS GROUNDED OUTLET BOX This tool should be grounded while in CURRENT CARRYING use to protect the operator from electric PRONGS shock. The tool is equipped with a 3- conductor cord and 3-prong grounding type plug to fit the proper grounding type receptacle.

    WILL NOT fit the precision blade guides on portable band saws. Therefore, they MUST NOT be used. Refer to the blade selection chart in the Porter-Cable catalog (see “ACCESSORIES” section in this manual) for types of blades available and their recommended usages.
  • Page 11 NEVER USE LIQUID COOLANT WITH YOUR BAND SAW. Damage to the blade guide bearings or rubber tires on the pulleys may result. Porter-Cable’s “Lube Wax” is available as an accessory and is recommended when cutting aluminum, brass and thick materials. Cast iron should be cut dry.

    At completion of cut DO NOT allow saw to fall against work. HOLD SAW SECURELY. Fig. 6 shows the proper cutting position for various shapes.     LUBRICATION Although all PORTER-CABLE tools have been thoroughly lubricated with a sufficient amount of high grade lubricant at the time of manufacture, it is recommended that the oil level in the gear chamber be checked before using your saw and periodically thereafter as follows: WARNING: Remove band saw blade to prevent accidental contact.
