Setting the base

Protecting the telephone from unauthorised access

Protect the phone system settings with a system PIN known only to you. If a system
PIN is not equal to 0000, you have to enter it if you register or de-register a handset,
change local network settings, perform a firmware update or reset the phone to
default settings.
Please note
If the PIN for your phone is 0000 (default setting), you are only requested to
enter the PIN when you reset the base and when you register handsets.

Changing the system PIN

You can change the phone's 4-digit system PIN (default setting: 0000) to a 4-digit
PIN known only by you.

Setting the base's IP address in the LAN

Prerequisite: Your base is connected to a router or a PC
An IP address is required in order for the LAN to "recognise" your phone.
The IP address can be assigned to the phone automatically (by the router) or man-
ually.
u
If the address is assigned dynamically, the router's DHCP server automatically
assigns an IP address to the phone. The base's IP address can be changed
according to router settings.
u
With manual/static assignment, you assign a static IP address to the phone. This
may be necessary depending on your network configuration (e.g., if your phone
is connected directly to a PC).
Please note
To assign the IP address dynamically, the DHCP server on the router must be
activated. Please also read the user manual for your router.
