3. OPEN anearby h ot w ater f aucet and leave open toallow for
draining.
4. Connect a hoseto thedrainvalveandterminate t o an
adequate drain.
5. OPEN thewater heater drain valve toallow fortank draining.
NOTE: ff thewaterheater i sgoingto beshutdown and
drained f oranextended period, thedrain valve shoumd be
leftopen withhose connected allowing w ater t oterminate
toanadequate drain.
6. CLOSE t hedrain valve.
7. Follow instructions inthe
Fifling
The Water heater
section.
8. Follow
the
lighting
instructions
in the Lighting
section
to
restart
the water
heater,

25)
1. Turn "OFF"
gas supply
to water
heater.
2. Follow
"Draining"
instructions,
3. Turning
counter
clockwise
( _
), remove
the hex cap below
the screw
handle,
4. Remove
the washer
and put the new one in place.
5. Screw
the handle
and cap
assembly
back
into the drain
valve
and
retighten
using
a wrench.
DO
NOT
OVER
TIGHTEN.
6. Forlow
instructions
in the FiihtTg The Water
Heater
section.
7. Check
for leaks.
8. Follow
the lighting
instructions
in the Lighting
section
to
restart
the water
heater,
