    Getting started Telephone base and charger installation Install the telephone base and charger as shown below. Make sure that the electrcal outlet s not controlled by a wall swtch. If you subscrbe to dgtal subscrber lne (DSL) hgh-speed Internet servce through your telephone lne, you must nstall a DSL filter between the telephone line cord and telephone wall jack.

    Getting started Battery installation After you nstall the handset battery, the handset wll prompt you to set the date and tme. The handset wll also prompt you to set the date and tme after a power falure. For nstructons, see Set date and time on page 11. /CANCEL.

Charge the handset by placng t n the telephone base or charger. The CHARGE lght remans on whenever the handset s chargng.

    Getting started Battery charging Once you have nstalled the battery, the screen ndcates the battery status (see the table below). If necessary, place the handset n the telephone base or charger to charge the battery. For best performance, keep the handset n the telephone base or charger when not n use. The battery s fully charged after 16 hours of contnuous chargng.

    Getting started Are you a new cable or VoIP subscriber? If your answer is yes, the exstng telephone jacks n your home may no longer work. You cable/VoIP servce provder uses a dfferent connecton, separate from your old tradtonal telephone servce, to connect the model/ router/termnal adapter nstalled n your home.

    Telephone operation Chain dialing Use ths feature to ntate a dalng sequence from numbers stored n the drectory, call log or redal whle you are on a call. Chan dalng can be useful f you wsh to access other numbers (such as bank account numbers or access codes) from the drectory, call log or redal lst.

    The drectory can store up to 30 entres. Each entry Directory empty may consst of a phone number up to 30 dgts and a name up to 15 characters. Each handset drectory s ndependent (for CS6114-2 • only). Any addtons, deletons or edts made on one Directory full handset are not reflected on the other handset.
