    SET UP YOUR PHONE You must first install and charge the battery to begin setting up your phone.  1. Install the battery.   Insert your fingernail into the slit at the bottom of the battery compartment cover and lift the cover up gently.

      Plug the smaller end of the USB cable into the charger/accessory jack on the bottom of your phone.   Plug the other end of the USB cable into the charger, and then plug the charger into an electrical outlet. Note: Your phone’s battery should have enough charge for the phone to turn on and find a signal, run the setup application, set up voicemail, and make a call.

    TOUCHSCREEN NAVIGATION Your phone’s touchscreen lets you control actions through a variety of touch gestures. Warning: Do not touch with a pen or stylus. It may damage the touch screen. Touch When you want to type using the onscreen keyboard, select items onscreen such as application and settings icons, or press onscreen buttons, simply touch them with your finger.

This finger gesture is always in a vertical direction, such as when flicking the contacts or message list. Rotate For most screens, you can automatically change the screen orientation from portrait to landscape by turning the phone sideways.

    Home Screen Overview There are two different options for the Home screen on your phone, Easy mode and Standard mode. By default, your phone is set to Standard mode. You can change from Standard mode to Easy mode from the Settings menu. See Change the Home Screen Mode.
