AA Travel Charger Pack
Your RadioShack AA Travel Charger Pack can charge 2 or 4 AA or
AAA Ni-Cd or Ni-MH batteries in two hours.
Its features include:
Automatic Charging Current Selection — chooses the best
charging current according to battery size.
2/4 Batteries Selection Switch — lets you choose to charge 2 or 4
batteries at a time.
Safety Timer Shut-Off — turns off the charger to prevent over-
charging the batteries.
Over-Current Protection — keeps the current constant.
Reverse Polarity Protection — protects the charger and batteries
against incorrectly installed batteries.
Short Circuit Protection — protects the charger from damage.
The charger comes with four 1.2V, 1500 mAH Ni-MH batteries and a
6-foot cigarette-lighter plug cable for connecting to vehicle battery
power.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS!
This manual contains important safety and operation instructions for
your battery charger. Before using your charger, read all instructions
and cautionary markings on the charger, the batteries to be charged,
and the product that uses the batteries.
Warnings:
• Charge only Ni-Cd or Ni-MH batteries with this charger. Other
types of batteries might burst, causing personal injury.
• Unplug the charger from the cigarette-lighter socket or AC outlet
before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
• Do not disassemble the charger; take it to a qualified service
technician when service or repair is required. Improper reas-
sembly may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.
• Do not use an attachment not recommended or sold by
RadioShack as this could result in a risk of fire, electric shock,
or injury.
Cautions:
• Do not expose the charger to rain or excessive moisture.
• Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharp blow, or
been dropped or damaged in any way. Take it to a qualified ser-
vice technician for repair.
• Do not use an extension cord. Its use could result in fire or elec-
tric shock.

• Never use the charger as a DC power source for any electrical
equipment.
OPERATION
You can power the charger from a vehicle's 12V power source (such
as a cigarette-lighter socket) using the supplied 12 volt, 2A DC
adapter. You can also power the charger using an 12V, 700-mA AC
adapter and a size M Adaptaplug (neither supplied). All are available
at your local RadioShack store.
Cautions:
You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies
!
12V DC and delivers at least 700 mA. Its center tip
must be set to positive and its plug must fit the
charger's

these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet
these specifications could damage the charger or the
adapter.
• Always connect the adapter to the charger before you con-
nect it to the power source. When you finish, disconnect the
DC adapter from the power source before you disconnect it
from the charger.
Notes:
• It is normal for the batteries to become warm while charging.
• Charge the batteries in an area between –0.4 and 140 °F (–18
and 60 °C). If the area is too cold, the batteries can permanently
lose their ability to charge. If the area is too warm, the batteries
will not be fully charged.
• Do not try to charge batteries other than those listed in this
manual, or use procedures other than those described in this
manual.
1. Lift the battery compartment cover. Then set
of batteries you want to charge.

2. Place AA or AAA batteries into the battery compartment accord-
ing to the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside each cham-
ber.
Caution: Be sure all batteries are correctly installed according
to polarity before powering the charger.
