TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

WARNING
To avoid any injury or damage the strip heater
must only be serviced by qualified personnel.
SYMPTOM
Unit is turned "ON" but there
is no heat.
Heat is inadequate.
Form No. GRM-0707
PROBABLE CAUSE
No power to unit.
Switch is defective.
Wiring is open.
Heating element defective.
Unit mounted too high above
target area.
Excessive air movement
around strip heater target
area.
Incorrect power supply (low).

WARNING
To avoid any injury or damage to the strip heater
turn
the
power
OFF
switch/circuit breaker and allow to cool before
performing any maintenance.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Check circuit breaker and reset as
necessary. If power cord connected
check for damage to cord. If power cord
connected check power outlet.
Check input and output sides of the
switch for power. If proper power on
supply side but nothing on output side
replace switch.
Check for power at the heating element.
If no power at element check wiring for
break or bad connection. Repair or
replace as necessary.
Check heating element for continuity.
Using an ohm meter check the resistance
of element.
Resistance in ohms = voltage
Example: GRAH-48, 120 Volt is rated for
1100 watts.

Replace heating element if defective.
Lower unit, putting effective heat closer
to target.
Restrict or redirect air movement (ie. - air
conditioning duct or exhaust fan) away
from unit.
Check power supply to unit, making sure
it matches rating on the unit. If power
supply is incorrect, change to match
rating on unit.
