    Faxing Faxing General transmission operation This section contains information on the general operation for sending a fax. Note This is a G3 fax machine. Faxes can only be sent or received with this ma- chine if the recipient’s or sender’s machine complies with the G3 stand- ard.

    Faxing Positioning the document Loading the document into the document feeder Reminder Document pages bound with staples or paper clips can damage the ma- chine. In this case, the fax is sent with the “FINE/TEXT” or “FINE/PHOTO” setting. If the “PHOTO” or “S-FINE/PHOTO” setting is selected, the fax may have a decreased image quality, depending on the quality of the recipient’s fax machine or on whether the document size is larger than the paper loaded in the recipient’s fax machine.

    Faxing Operations while scanning documents If the memory becomes full If the memory becomes full while documents are being scanned when queu- ing a transmission (specifying a fax transmission while another fax transmis- sion job is being performed) or for a timer transmission, a message appears, allowing you to select whether to send the scanned pages or cancel the transmission.

    Faxing If the fax cannot be sent While faxing, if the recipient’s fax machine is busy or does not answer or if, for any other reason, such as due to a transmission error, the fax is not sent correctly, this machine automatically redials the fax number. The document to be sent is treated as a queued fax waiting for redialing until the fax number is redialed.

    Faxing Faxing after completing a telephone call (manual fax- ing) If a telephone is connected to the machine and the same line is used for phoning and faxing, the document can be sent immediately after talking with the recipient over the telephone. This feature is useful, for example, if you wish to notify the recipient that you are sending a fax.

    Faxing Stopping the transmission To stop a transmission, press the [Clear/Stop] key, and then select “YES” in the screen that appeared. Canceling (deleting) a queued transmission To cancel a transmission when the scanned document is waiting to be sent, delete the job, and cancel the transmission. Press the [Function] key.
