    Packaging and transporting guidelines Follow these grounding guidelines when packaging and transporting equipment: ● To avoid hand contact, transport products in static-safe tubes, bags, or boxes. ● Protect ESD-sensitive parts and assemblies with conductive or approved containers or packaging. ● Keep ESD-sensitive parts in their containers until the parts arrive at static-free workstations.
  • Page 53 Equipment guidelines Grounding equipment must include either a wrist strap or a foot strap at a grounded workstation. ● When seated, wear a wrist strap connected to a grounded system. Wrist straps are flexible straps with a minimum of one megohm ±10% resistance in the ground cords. To provide proper ground, wear a strap snugly against the skin at all times.

(The optical drive tray releases.) Use the optical drive tray to remove the optical drive (2) from the computer. If it is necessary to replace the optical drive bracket, position the optical drive with the rear panel toward you.

    Remove the optical drive bracket (2). Reverse this procedure to reassemble and install the optical drive. Hard drive NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive cable, hard drive isolators, or Mylar shield. The hard drive isolators and Mylar shield are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 639444-001.
  • Page 60 Lift the front edge of the hard drive (2) until it rests at an angle. Remove the hard drive. If it is necessary to replace the hard drive cable (1) or the hard drive isolators (2) from the hard drive, remove and replace the components. The hard drive cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part 639442-001.

  • Page 65 Remove the keyboard: Remove the Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer. Rest the computer on its left side. Open the computer. Insert a screw driver or similar thin tool into the keyboard screw hole, and then press on the back of the keyboard until the keyboard disengages from the computer.
  • Page 66 Lift the rear edge of the keyboard (1), and then swing the keyboard (2) up and forward until it rests upside down on the palm rest. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector (1) to which the keyboard cable is attached, and then disconnect the keyboard cable (2) from the system board.

Remove the following screws: (1) Two Phillips PM 2.5×4.0 screws in the hard drive bay (2) One Philllips PM2.5×6.0 screw near the memory module bay (3) One Philllips PM2.5×6.0 screw on the right side of the hard drive bay (4) Three Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screws in the battery bay Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you.
