    It has the ability to make real time full frame rate Motion JPEG video available on the network. The AXIS 231D is equipped with a connection module with a 4 alarm inputs and 4 alarm outputs, which can be connected to external devices, e.g. door sensors and alarm bells.

    Before you begin If the AXIS 231D is to be mounted in a position where it is difficult to access, it is recommended that you set the IP address and get the camera up and running before completing the hardware installation.

    • DHCP is enabled by default • The AXIS 231D supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) in Windows Me and XP. UPnP is enabled by default. Note that UPnP must be installed on your workstation. To do this, open the Control Panel from the Start Menu and select Add/Remove Programs.

    Please use the online help files for more information. HTML Examples You can add live video from your AXIS 231D to your own web site. The AXIS 231D can send Motion-JPEG to up to 20 simultaneous connections, although an administrator can restrict this to fewer.

    Limits Define the pan, tilt, zoom and focus limits for the AXIS 231D. Movements to the left and right, up and down can be restricted to narrow the area under surveillance. The near focus limit can be set to avoid focusing on objects too close to the camera.

    Port Status Under Event Configuration | Port Status there is a list that shows the status for the connected inputs and outputs of the AXIS 231D for the benefit of the Operator who cannot access the System Options section. Example: If the Normal state for a doorbell push button connected to an input is set to Open circuit - as long as the button is not pushed, the state is inactive.

    Note: Preconfigured and customized settings will be retained for use when the new firmware is running (provid- ing that the features are available in the new firmware) although this is not guaranteed by Axis Communi- cations. 1. Save the firmware file to your computer. The latest version of the AXIS 231D firmware is available free of charge from the Axis Web site at http://www.axis.com/techsup or from your local distributor.
