Description
Course-up Mode
Heading
An azimuth stabilized display in which a line connect-
line
040
ing the center with the top of the display indicates own
050
060
ship's intended course (namely, own ship's previous
070
heading just before this mode has been selected).
080
Target pips are painted at their measured distances
090
and in their directions relative to the intended course
100
which is maintained at the top of screen while the
110
heading line moves in accordance with ship's yawing
120
and course changes. This mode is useful to avoid
130
smearing of picture during course change. After a
140
course change, press the [SHIFT] key to reset the
150
picture orientation if you wish to continue using the
160
course-up mode. The heading line gets back to
170
180
perpendicular.

North-up Mode
In the north-up mode, target pips are painted at their
measured distances and in their true (compass)
directions from own ship, north being maintained
up of the screen. The heading line changes its
direction according to the ship's heading.
If the compass fails, the presentation mode changes
to head-up and the north marker disappears. Also,
the HDG readout shows xxx.x .
