Assembling and preparing your mobile phone Get started by assembling and setting up your mobile phone for its first use. Install the SIM or USIM card and battery Remove the back cover and insert the SIM card. Back cover SIM card Insert the battery and replace the back cover.
Charge the battery Open the cover to the multifunction jack on the right side of the phone. Plug the small end of the supplied travel adapter into the multifunction jack. Plug the large end of the travel adapter into a power outlet.
Insert a memory card (optional) Your phone accepts microSD™ or microSDHC™ memory cards up to 16 GB (depending on memory card manufacturer and type). • Formatting the memory card on a PC may cause incompatibility with your phone. Format the memory card only on the phone.
Using basic functions Learn how to perform basic operations and use the main features of your mobile phone. Turn your phone on or off To turn your phone on, Press and hold [ Enter your PIN and press < Confirm> (if necessary).
When you access a menu requiring the PIN2, you must enter the PIN2 supplied with the SIM card. Using an optional PC data cable, connect the multifunction jack on your phone to a PC with Windows Media Player installed. When connected, a pop-up window will appear on the PC. Open Windows Media Player to synchronise music files. Edit or enter your phone’s name in the pop-up window (if necessary).

To create a playlist Music → Music player → In Menu mode, select Playlists. Select Create playlist. Enter a title for your new playlist and press <Save>. Select the new playlist. Select Add tracks. Select the files you want to include and press <OK>.

To find information of music In Menu mode, select Music → Find music. Find music to connect to the server. Select When the phone is successfully registered, press <Record> to record a part of music you want to find. Some service providers may not support this service and the database may not have information for all songs.

To find and pair with other Bluetooth-enabled devices In Menu mode, select Applications → Bluetooth → Search for new devices. Scroll to a device and press < Select>. Enter a PIN for the Bluetooth wireless feature or the other device’s Bluetooth PIN, if it has one, and press <OK>.
To receive data using the Bluetooth wireless feature Enter the PIN for the Bluetooth wireless feature and press <OK> (if necessary). Press < Yes> to confirm that you are willing to receive data from the device (if necessary). Press < Options> → Phonebook to open your contact list. You can also enter a phone number including a country code (with +). Select a contact → a number. When you are finished selecting contacts, press the Confirm key to save the recipients. Scroll down and enter the sender’s name. Accept>.
Make fake calls You can simulate an incoming call when you want to get out of meetings or unwanted conversations. You must set a shortcut key to make a fake call; In Menu mode, select Settings → Phone settings → Shortcuts and set a shortcut key for Fake call. To make a fake call, in Idle mode, press and hold the shortcut key.
Use Java-powered games and applications In Menu mode, select Applications → Games and more. Select a game or application from the list and follow the on-screen instructions. Use the RSS reader To add an RSS feed address Applications → RSS In Menu mode, select reader. Options> → Add. Press < Enter the address of an RSS feed and press <OK>. To update and read RSS feeds In Menu mode, select Applications → RSS reader.
Press < Save> to create the world clock. The world clock is set as the second clock. To add more world clocks, repeat steps 2-5. Set and use alarms Learn to set and control alarms for important events. To set a new alarm In Menu mode, select Alarms.
To deactivate an alarm In Menu mode, select Alarms. Select the alarm you want to deactivate. Scroll down to Alarm activation (if necessary). Scroll left or right to Off and press the Confirm key. Use the calculator In Menu mode, select Organiser → Calculator.
Set a countdown timer In Menu mode, select Applications → Timer. Press < Set>. Enter the time to count down and press < OK>. Press the Confirm key to begin the countdown. When the timer expires, press < OK> to stop the alert.
Create a text memo In Menu mode, select Organiser → Memo. Press < Options> → Create. Enter your memo text and press the Confirm key. Manage your calendar To change the calendar view In Menu mode, select Organiser → Calendar. Press < Options> → View by → Day, Week, or Month.

Your phone displays network or service error messages • When you are in areas with weak signals or poor reception, you may lose reception. Move to another area and try again. • You cannot access some options without a subscription. Contact your service provider for more details.

The battery does not charge properly or the phone turns off • The battery terminals may be dirty. Wipe both gold-coloured contacts with a clean, soft cloth and try charging the battery again. • If the battery will no longer charge completely, dispose of the old battery properly and replace it with a new battery (refer to your local ordinances for proper disposal instructions).

Samsung Service Centre. Error messages appear when launching the FM radio The FM radio application on your Samsung mobile device uses the headset cable as an antenna.
