Error Messages and Their Meanings

If there is an error, one of the following messages may appear on the display. If
other message appears, follow the message.
Message
You do not have the privileges
to use this function.
Authentication has failed.
The selected file(s) which you
do not have access privileges to
could not be deleted.
[Exit]
Put original back, check it and
press [Start].
Error occurred, and transmis-
sion was cancelled.
Cannot detect original size.
Place original again, then
press [Start].

Functional problems with fac-
simile. Please call service.
Memory is full. Cannot scan
more. Transmitting only scanned
pages.
Remove the paper from Internal
Tray 1.

Causes and solutions
Use of this function is restricted. Ask the ad-
ministrator.
Wrong login user name or password. Confirm
correct login user name or password.
Authentication is not possible from this ma-
chine. Ask the administrator.
You tried to delete a document for which you
do not have permission to delete. Only your
document administrator can delete this docu-
ment. Contact your document administrator if
you want to delete a document for which you
do not have permission to delete.
Original jammed during Memory Transmis-
sion. Place originals that have not been
scanned on the exposure glass or ADF again.
A document jam occurred during Immediate
Transmission. Press [OK], and then resend the
pages that have not been sent.
An error occurred during Immediate Trans-
mission. Press [OK], and then resend the origi-
nal.

❒ There may be a problem with the machine
or the telephone line (for example noise or
cross talk). If the error reoccurs frequently,
contact your service representative.
The machine failed to detect the size of the
original. Place originals again, and then press
the {Start} key.
There is a problem with the fax. Record the
code number shown in the display and contact
your service representative. The copy function
will still work normally.
If you press [Exit], the machine returns to
standby mode and starts transmitting the
stored pages.
The paper output tray is full. Remove the pa-
per. If the other tray is also full, the tray name
shown in the display changes.
Remove paper from the tray indicated in the
display.
